Fascinatingly Realistic Looking Translucent Waves In Russian Paintings From The 19th Century

Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, a Russian-Armenian painter, was fascinated by the waves of the sea and included them in about 3,000 of his paintings. His love for depicting water in such a hypnotizing way surely comes from the fact that he was a native of Crimea, where he was born in the port town Feodosia.

See for yourself how beautifully Aivazovsky used light and shadows to create those translucent and realistic looking waves in his paintings that were created in the 19th century and will most probably never get old and lose their compelling spirit.
